As a social enterprise, we are committed to making our seated chair exercise classes accessible to everyone who can benefit from them, especially those for whom the gym or conventional fitness classes are not an option. We achieve this in two key ways.
First, we deliver our classes in a specially designed format that ensures consistency while allowing each individual to participate at their own pace. Second, we break down the common logistical barriers that many people face when trying to attend exercise classes. We call this the MOVEability Way.
Our Class Structure
In every MOVEability class, we go on a journey. We liken it to starting at the foot of a hill. When we are ready, some of us climb it gently, others more energetically, but each of us at our own pace. We celebrate reaching the top, and then we gently come back down again.
Along the way, we enjoy various uplifting tunes, have fun with various exercise moves, and learn how each move helps our bodies. When we reach the bottom, we all enjoy a well-deserved cuppa.
Simple. We remove them.
No uncertainty: You’ll always know what you’ll get with a MOVEability class – our classes follow the same structure. To learn more, look at The MOVEability Way blog series.
No upfront payments: All classes are pay-as-you-go
No pressure to attend: Can’t attend? No need to pay. Even if you’ve registered
No need to book in advance: Show up on the day
No pressure to get it right: Do whatever you can manage
No need for technology to get the better of you: one-to-one support accessing our online classes
Emphasis on fun and friendship: So much more than exercise!
It’s our social purpose to make exercise accessible to all ages and abilities. We believe the world will be a better place if all people, regardless of age or status, have an equal opportunity to enhance their physical and mental well-being.
We know our model works. We want it to become the default model for classes like ours up and down the country, with social enterprises and charitable organisations able to access funding from a central pot. Considering the social impact our classes make, it’s a no-brainer!
Right now, we make The MOVEability Way possible through grant funding from a variety of funders. We have received grants from organisations including:
We also accept donations through our Crowdfunding page, which was inspired by the generosity of strangers in a Waitrose cafe.
