We have some really heart-warming news to share! On the 23rd of April, at the Thatcham Town Annual Meeting, MOVEability was Highly Commended for the Community Contributor Award.
This recognition means the world to us because it speaks directly to the heart of why we do what we do: making exercise accessible to everyone, regardless of age or ability, and in the process, helping to bring people together and reduce social isolation.
A Christmas to Remember
The nomination highlighted a project very close to our hearts – our “Big Christmas Lunch.” Last December, we were determined to ensure that no one in the MOVEability community felt alone during the festive period.
With the help of Natacha and her amazing team at The Hidden Gem Cafe, we hosted events in Thatcham and Chieveley, serving well over 100 Christmas lunches! Many of our regulars live by themselves, so we just wanted to make sure everyone had a chance to get out and have a proper Christmas dinner with some good company.
Fundraising at New Heights (Literally!)
How did we make it all happen? Through the incredible generosity and bravery of our supporters and team members. We raised over £2,000 through efforts like our stall at the Thatcham Fun Day and one very special, high-flying adventure.
Our wonderful instructor, Debbie Mumford, took to the skies for a fundraising paraglide! If you haven’t seen the video yet, you have to watch Debbie performing a “Hand Jive” at 3,000 feet. We think it perfectly captures the MOVEability spirit of having fun while staying active!

Why We Do It
At MOVEability, our commitment is twofold:
- Accessible Exercise: Breaking down barriers so everyone can enjoy the physical and mental benefits of movement.
- Ending Isolation: Building a community where everyone feels seen, included and valued.
Being “Highly Commended” is a win for every single person who attends our classes or supports us in other ways, including our incredible team of instructors. You are the reason MOVEability is such a vibrant part of the communities we serve!
Thank you to Thatcham Town Council for this honour, and a huge thank you to you for being part of our journey. Let’s keep moving together!
