Dementia Friendly West Berkshire

We are a group of individuals, volunteers and organisations including local businesses, the local authority, the emergency services, charities and more, who are committed to working together to make West Berkshire more dementia-friendly.

We work together with people living with dementia and their carers to ensure their voices are heard.

Our aim and purpose is to raise awareness of dementia, and increase the range and diversity of services available, reducing loneliness and isolation and increasing inclusivity and support.

They were formed in 2002 by seven organisations who believed that social entrepreneurs had a much bigger contribution to make to our economy and society. Parkinson’s UK Newbury & District Branch works to help those in West Berkshire and immediate surroundings who are affected by Parkinson’s. As a Branch they offer information, friendship and support to local people with Parkinson’s, their families and carers. They organise regular events and social activities. Through membership of the Branch, people with Parkinson’s living in West Berkshire can access a range of subsidised activities and therapies, including exercise, physiotherapy, speech therapy and carer respite services.
